I Shouldn't Be Proud...But I Am

Ok, so I know I am out of the running for Mother of the Year already and today was another example of why. As some of you know, Max is a pretty passive kid and I often get frustrated when he just lets other kids push him around. I know it's just part of his personality and I'd rather have a passive kid than a bully, but the Mama Bear comes out in me when bigger kids run over him.
Well today I got the chance to be the mother of a bully and I loved it (secretly of course). Max was playing with another little boy who usually bullies him, but today Max did the pushing. Everytime I turned around Max was knocking his little friend over, yelling at him, taking things away, you name it. I thought it was great. In fact I caught myself laughing a time or two and was very tempted to give him some High Fives over it.
I do have to mention that the little boy is 8 months younger than Max, but he's 5 pounds heavier and 2 inches taller (Max is a shrimp) so I think it evens things out.
Now as I said in the beginning, I don't want Max to become a fighter, but I sure was glad to see him start sticking up for himself. So watch out world, my little guy can be pretty scrappy when he wants to be.

4:30 A.M.

The other morning at 4:30 A.M., Jeff and I were awakened by a little voice calling from down the hallway. DAAAAADDDDYYYYYY!!!!!! DAAAAAADDDDDDDDYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Jeff and I both moaned, rolled over, and pretended not to hear anything. Over the course of the next few minutes, the sweet little voice changed into a shriek, followed by a howl, and finally a sobbing scream. DAAAAAAAADDDDDYYYYY!!!!!!! NEED DAAAAAADDDDDYYYYYY!!!!!!

Jeff finally picked up his head and asked, "Do you have any idea what he wants?" I chuckled to myself and answered, "I would guess he wants you." Jeff rolled out of bed and stumbled down the hallway to see what the problem was. With one ear listening and the rest of me still asleep I hear him open Max bedroom door and get greeted with, "Hi Daddy, we play outside now?!" At this point I knew my services would not be needed and I quickly drifted back to dreamland.

Sometimes it is good to be the MOMMY!

Family Prayer

We have been attempting to have family prayers each night for a few months now and I think it's finally starting to catch on. Max has now been asking for "Max say payers." So tonight we gave it a try.

Mommy: Ok Max, you say what Mommy says.
Max: Mommy say.
Mommy: Dear Heavenly Father
Max: Dear Heffaffer
Mommy: Thank you
Max: Welcome
Mommy: for
Max: five, seven, eight
Mommy: Daddy
Max: Night, night

I think it's going well!!!

Welcome to my world

Hi there world!

Yes, I have finally succumbed to peer pressure and started my very own blog. The purpose for this blog (my sis-in-law/blogger extraordinare says I have to have a purpose) is to keep the world abreast of my family's triumps and downfalls. Actually, I will probably just bore you all with cute stories about Max's latest adventures--the stuff grandmas live for and the rest of us sigh and think "Glad he's not mine!"

Since this is my first post and I'm a little nervous, I'll just share one of Max's latest quirks. For three days now and through all of our art projects (coloring, watercolors, sidewalk chalk) Max has insisted that I only use the color PINK. He can use any of the colors and so can anyone else, but when it comes to Mommy, "No Mamma, you pink!" I wonder what that means.
